Stopping Power
The brakes on your vehicle are a vital part of your driving experience. They rely on kinetic energy to operate effectively.
Brakes work using friction and the dissipation of the heat generated by that friction. When the brakes on your vehicle become worn out, they cannot work efficiently.
Typical components that make up your vehicles braking system are brake pads, disc rotors or brake drums and brake shoes, master cylinder and brake caliper.
The example below is a typical brake layout.
Common symptoms of poor performing brakes include, vibration under braking through the steering wheel, pulsation through the brake pedal (under normal braking); and brake fade (brake fade is felt by the vehicle not slowing quickly no matter how hard you press down on the pedal due to over heating).
If you do alot of towing, you might want to consider upgrading your brakes with cross drilled or slotted disc rotors. Click on one of the images below to enlarge.
